BBQ chicken wings are a signature dish at many Canadian restaurants. I’ve had my share of BBQ chicken wings while eating out, however, I’ve only every found one pub that I can truly say I adore their chicken wings.
I tend to love my BBQ chicken wings a little more savoury, and a little less tangy.
That’s why I adore this BBQ chicken wing recipe created by my partner. I think you will too!

Easy And Delicious Homemade BBQ Chicken Wings
Summer at last! What seemed to be like an eternal winter is gone, and the beautiful weather is upon us.
Which means for a lot of people that it’s BBQ time!
I know, I know, there are die hard BBQers that BBQ 365 days a year. I know this because I’m one of them.
However, outside cooking is much more pleasant and enjoyable in summer than at -15 with blowing snow – while fumbling in the darkness!
I thought I would share a quick and easy BBQ chicken wing recipe that seems to be quite the hit with our family. There are no fancy ingredients, nothing complicated.
Sure, you could buy some pre-made wings and heat them up but, there’s just something more satisfying when using fresh, non-frozen ingredients.
This is what you’re going to need…
Ingredients:
2 Packages of pre-cut chicken wings
1 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder
1 Teaspoon of Seasoning Salt
1/3 Cup of Soy Sauce
5-6 drops of liquid Hickory Smoke
1/8 Cup of Olive Oil
Cook time 15-20 Minutes (depending on BBQ)
In a large bowl add the wings, Soy Sauce, Garlic Powder, seasoning salts, and liquid smoke.
Mix the ingredients together and then let chill for 30 minutes or longer.
When ready to cook, mix in the olive oil.
BBQ Time!
I like to cook my wings at medium-high to high heat, normally this takes roughly 15-20 minutes. I constantly flip them to preventing these delicious gems from sticking to the grill. I tend to cook with the lid down for short periods, while keeping an eye out for unexpected flare ups.
I tend to bunch my wings to the right side of my BBQ since that’s where most of the heat is concentrated. I can then move the wings that cook faster over to the left.
I also like to add a bit of seasoning salt to one side of the BBQ chicken wings, HOWEVER, be careful not to over-do it! In fact, you may want to skip this step when trying this recipe for the first time.
The wings should take about 15 to 20 minutes depending on your BBQ. You’ll notice that they get nice and golden and you want to make sure not to overcook them. The trick is to cook them just enough so they stay ultra juicy!
I tend to flip them about 3 or 4 times. You don’t want them to stick!
And there you have it! Awesome BBQ chicken wings, extra juicy and tasty!
What? No BBQ sauce? No need with these babies, however…
A few years ago I went to a great BBQ hot spot near Chicago (the name escapes me at this time) and ordered an amazing rib and wing combo. I noticed a couple of things. First, a broom handle sticking through the table with two rolls of paper towels (because it was going to get messy) and secondly, multiple bottles of sauces. The sauces were offered separately for you to add. I thought that this was a great idea since I could add as much, or as little, of my favorite sauce as I desired.
