I am Groot!
Well…not really…but after last night, I’d sure like to be his friend.
Who’s excited to see the brand new MARVEL movie “Guardians Of The Galaxy”? directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana? I was…until last night when we got to attend a pre-screening of this much-anticipated movie that opens in theatres across Canada on August 1st.
“From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.”
Marvel fans will NOT be disappointed with this movie…and neither will new fans of this Marvel superheroes team.
Guardians Of The Galaxy is jam-packed from start to finish with a great mix of action and comedy. We were lucky enough to see Guardians Of The Galaxy in 3D, and let me tell you, if given the choice, see this one in 3D. The 3D experience is what gives this movie that extra “oomph” during fight scenes, explosions, and travel through intergalactic space.
The leading characters in Guardians Of The Galaxy were superb – all of them. This is a group of actors who work well together, and who have great comedic timing. This team of Marvel superheroes is full of extremely likable characters. Chris Pratt is great as Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord), delivering some very memorable, funny lines. In fact, there were so many great lines in this movie that I would have liked to include in this review, but I didn’t want to spoil it for you readers out there. I love the team of Rocket (a racoon) and Groot (a tree-like creature), and they had me laughing throughout the whole movie.
What surprised me the most was that Guardians Of The Galaxy had me laughing, sitting on the edge of my seat, and…shedding a tear. Yep, I shed a tear or two during this movie. Once was involving a scene with Groot. Yep, I’d say a movie is good when it gets you shedding a tear over a tree-like creature. Luckily I had my 3D glasses to hide the glistening in my eyes. Shhhh…don’t tell anyone!
The fab 1970’s soundtrack had me tapping my feet throughout the whole movie and provided a few more laughs at times with Peter Quills dance moves. I love how Guardians Of The Galaxy wove this music into the storyline!
There were so many memorable lines in this movie, all of which I would love to share with you, but I don’t want to be the spoiler. You’ll just have to go see for yourself.
Fans of Marvel, fans of superheroes, and movie fans in general…go see Guardians Of The Galaxy! Oh and…stay until the very end if you want one last chuckle.
