The 22nd Olympic Winter Games are underway in Sochi, Russia, and by the sound of the news reports coming from this city of 350,000 people, #Sochi2014 should have added a new Olympic sport to the roster:
Flushability
Have you heard? Visitors (reporters) to some washrooms in Sochi are being asked to place USED toilet paper in the waste paper baskets BESIDE the toilet instead of IN the toliet. Ewwwww!
Apparently, the plumbing system in Sochi leaves little to be desired, so toilets easily become clogged from the Sochi toilet paper.
Sochi needs Majesta e.z Flush toilet paper!
Citizens of Sochi, let me introduce you to Canada’s very own Majesta e.z Flush. That’s right, not only does Canada know winter Olympic sports…we know toilet paper!
Flushability is a dirty word but somebody needs to talk about it.
Face it Canada, we’ve all encountered the dreaded “back up” experience at one time or another. You know, you wipe, flush, and…next thing you know you’ve got Niagara Falls flowing fast and furious over the top of your toilet bowl.
So what causes a toilet to back up? Most of the time it ISN’T you and your bodily functions. Really. Well, okay, maybe Uncle John’s Sunday afternoon bathroom rendezvous was to blame for your last super “bowl” overflow, but that was likely an anomaly. Usually a plugged toilet is caused solely by the type and amount of toilet paper used.
You see, I know this because I am a self-proclaimed “toilet paper connoisseur”. Trust me, thanks to the birth defect I was born with, I know my toilet paper!
Until recently, I have always lived in dwellings that had toilets that guzzled up more water than a Saharan Desert camel. Thankfully, I now have more environmentally friendly, low flush toilets that save a lot of water per flush. Great for lowering water consumption, not so great for flushing down clumps of wet toilet paper.
So when the folks at Majesta came knocking at my bathroom door (of course not literally!), I welcomed them into my bathroom with open arms…and plumbing pipes!
Majesta e.z Flush Shake Test Kit
Majesta’s challenge for me was to compare the flushability of their e.z Flush toilet paper with that of toilet paper made by a leading brand. I was definitely up for this challenge after some close calls with my low flush toilets. Marketed as “the choice of Canada’s leading performance manufacturer of low flow and dual flush systems, American Standard”, Majesta e.z Flush is “the perfect balance of softness and flushability, ideal for low flow and dual flush system, families with kids, homes on septic systems, cottage’s and RV’s”.
Here’s how my Majesta e.z Flush Shake Test went down (the drain)…
Getting ready for the test. Lining up 5 squares each of Majesta e.z Flush and the Leading Brand.
Filled each bottle with cold water to same line. 5 squares of toilet paper added to each bottle.
After 5 shakes the Leading Brand clogs the bottle right from start to finish. No disintegration at all.
Majesta e.z Flush disintegrates into shreds the minute it is shaken 5 times. No clogs here.
What you cannot see from these photos is the effort it took me to shake the Leading Brand toilet paper out of the plastic bottle. I really had to work at it. I found it quite surprising how difficult it was. The Leading Brand toilet paper became clogged in the neck of the bottle. Remember, for this test, I was only using 5 sheets of toilet paper. Now I understand just how easily toilets can become clogged, depending of the type of toilet paper used. On average, people use at least 8 sheets per visit to the bathroom. No wonder toilet “overflow” is a common thing!
Now, I know what you may be thinking. Is Majesta e.z Flush REALLY that good? After all, Canadian Blog House received perks for this post (like the awesome test kit ^ and a terrific Majesta nylon bag), so why wouldn’t I say I like it? Well I DO like Majesta e.z Flush toilet paper, and not just because of the free perks. Majesta e.z Flush really does work as well as my photos would suggest. So…I dare you. I dare you to do your very own Majesta e.z Flush Shake Test. I am 100% confident you will get the same results I did, and the same results these people did:
So seriously, Sochi, come talk to the folks at Majesta – they know their flushability!
