How Hoodies Are Made – The Technology That Makes It Possible

How Hoodies Are Made

How hoodies are made – the technology that makes it possible.

A hoodie is a symbol of the various hip-hop subcultures that sprung up through the seventies and eighties and has become one of the most recognizable fashion symbols in the world today. With custom printing technology becoming available to the masses at affordable prices, many people are venturing out into producing custom designed hoodies, which are pretty hot items on the market today. In its most basic form, a hoodie is a jacket or a sweatshirt with a hood along with a drawstring used to typically open up the hoodie.

A hoodie can be made by sewing it manually – but it is a tough ask for anyone to do it, as there are a lot of steps involved in the process, and the sewer needs to have loads of skill and patience to get it made right – but the rewards are well worth the process. However, for a high volume of orders, manual sewing will not cut it, and there has to be some automation and technology involved to make this possible. Thankfully, there is the technology that can automatically sew hoodies with a set pattern as intended by the designer and put out large volumes of this essential clothing item.

Hoodies are typically made either from polyester-based material or from cotton material. It is very easy to understand that polyester based hoodies are mostly preferred in the design process, as it is a very cheap material relative to the price of cotton, and the process for making a hoodie from polyester is cheaper than the process for making a hoodie from a cotton-based material.

Polyester is made from some complex chemical reactions that have been made possible by the technological advances of the last century. This is a petroleum-based plastic material that is squeezed into long threads that are pretty thin, using a complex machine applying a lot of pressure on the material, and this material is then used to make fabrics. Basically, this material is the same as the plastic in a PET bottle. This material has a lot of benefits in that it is very strong, is made to be resistant to wind and water, it doesn’t stain very easily and it can be easily cleaned – besides that it is very easy to make into hoodies using an automated sewing machine, and you’ve got a wonder material. It is no wonder that hoodies are so tough and rugged – suitable for outdoor use. With modern technology, many conveniences are built into hoodies including a headphone built into a hoodie, or a hoodie with a solar panel on the back to generate energy to charge up your phone in your backpacks – there is no limit to what can be done with the simple hoodie. If you are looking to get custom hoodie Toronto, a simple Google search can help you find what you are looking for – make sure that you have the vision in mind when you speak to a designer, so that they can help design the perfect custom hoodie using the best materials available.
