My dog is a Far-Necker.
You read that right – Far-Necker.
What is a Far-Necker?
FAR-NECKER —-> A dog that is stretching out their neck to get their mouth as close as possible to crumbs on a table.
So says X-Man, my boyfriend’s 7-year-old son. The conversation went something like this…
Setting:
- Family sitting at kitchen table, just finished supper
- I pick up dog to hold her on my lap
- Dog spots food crumbs on table in front of X-Man and begins to stretch her neck out as far as possible, hoping to place long tongue within reach of said crumbs.
X-Man: “Heeeey! Stop being a Far-Necker!! Bella’s being a Far-Necker!!”
Me: “Huh? A Far-Necker? What the heck is a Far-Necker?”
X-Man: “Bella’s a Far-Necker. She’s stretching her neck over the table and trying to eat my crumbs!”
So there you have it, my dog is a Far-Necker.
It’s also the word that has inspired me. Two weeks after having that conversation, saying that word can still make me laugh. You see, X-Man makes me laugh on a daily basis. He’s a kid that should have been featured on a show like “Kids Say The Darndest Things”. I only wish I had thought to start writing down his funny comments months ago. I’d probably be able to fill a book by now! All you parents out there…I just know you can relate!
Now, with my trusty pen in hand, or my fingers at the ready on my keyboard, I sit waiting for X-Man’s next…
